Most notable feature is the great gaping mouth with numerous sharp teeth and large fangs. It has a large head and elongated body colored with dark brown spots and blotches giving them good camouflage to hide in the rocks and ambush their prey.
Lingcod are found from Northern California to the Shumigin Islands in Alaska. Mostly they inhabit rocky areas from 50 to 300 feet deep. Noted for its voracious appetite, they will attack just about any fish slightly smaller than them. Lingcod measure 60 inches long and can weight up to 70 pounds.
We catch these hard fighting game fish on large jigs and whole baitfish. Available May through September.
