The Gulf of Alaska is home to 32 species of rockfish, with the yellow-eye (Redsnapper) and the Black Rockfish most commonly caught. Jigging is the best method to catch rockfish in depth of 100 to 600 feet. The larger yellow-eyes are found in deeper water.
