Salmon

King Salmon, the largest of the Pacific Salmon, average 10 to 40 pounds and are best caught by trolling. Available- May  through August.

Sockeye Salmon range in size from 4 to 8 pounds, and are good fighters and excellent eating. Available- June to mid August.

Chum Salmon are excellent fighters. Known locally as "dog salmon," they range in size from 7 to 18 pounds. Available - August and September.

Silver Salmon, a premier sport fish, are taken on light rigging. Trolling and mooching are preferred in salt water, and spoons in fresh water. They are the most acrobatic and hardest fighting of the Pacific Salmon, with adults averaging 8 to 12 pounds. Some Silver Salmon have been landed up to 20 pounds. Best July through September.

Pink Salmon are the smallest of the Pacific Salmon with average weights of only 3 to 4 pounds. Available in great numbers, they are fun to catch. Available July and August.
